 Wow. Okay. Well. It's been, apparently, like 11 and a half years since I last used this and while I initially thought I was never going to post here again, my 'Tism brain (oh, hi, yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm autistic but getting diagnosed is a paint because ~*United States*~).

So, I joined a reading challenge. A rather large reading challenge. Been trying off and on for years to get back into my reading groove, I was a little bookworm as a kid (see, again, 'Tism), and I think this may have done it. It's called the Hardest Reading Challenge You'll Ever Do, and you can find out more about it here.

So two things about this challenge that lead into why I'm reviving this account and what I'll be using it for:

1. One of the aspects of the challenge is that you can earn points by your books read fulfilling certain criteria/you do certain things while reading, and one of those is to write a detailed review of the books you read.
2. One of the prompts is to complete a challenge of your own making, and I chose to read 10 longfics (min 10k words) as my challenge.

Most of my book reviews will go on my book blog, Pass the Bookmark, but I wanted to do something with this blog for "reviews" of the fanfic I'm reading for the personal challenge. I know I can't review fic the same way I review published books, so they'll most likely be more along the lines of fanfic recs versus fanfic reviews, but they'll be in one central place (and separate from my published book reviews), and I'll be able to link them if I need proof of the review.

Edit 2/14/14: I have left the game, and the mods have saved my cards. I am leaving the post up for a little longer to give the people who had offered me cards (though I just gave them what I they had wanted for free) to respond, then I'll delete this post.

My generalities are pretty consistent.

What I Like
kid!fic (as in, the characters have kids, not the character are kids - toddler age is perfect), crushes/beginning of relationship (the concept of the feelings coming to fruition and both parties going, "WTF is going on? Why am I acting this way around him/her?" is one of my favorite fandom tropes), smut is always good, flirting.

What I Don't Like
Incest, bestiality and molestation are my only three sexual squicks, fandom has desensitized me to everything else. Character bashing. Yes, I'm generally a slasher but that doesn't mean I hate the female (or in the case of a femslash ship, male) characters (or, if I do, it's for reasons unrelated to "I ship his/her love interest with his/her best (fe)male friend and s/he gets in the way of the gay sex"). On that note, I also hate when writers completely disregard canon pairings. As much as I don't want them to, they exist. If you're gonna break them up, let us know how it happened. Please.

And now onto my specifics!

Requested Fandom #1: Entourage, Vince/Eric
I would love a fic where these two finally realize the reason they are totally co-dependent on each other (which would be, well, that they're in love with each other.)

I seriously just picked this series up earlier this year, and I've been trying to find the time to mainline it (I've gotten through season 1 and part of season 2). Yet, despite not being all the way through the series, I have fallen in love with it, for quite a few reasons:

1. It's borderline RPF not only because we're writing about actors in Hollywood living their lives in Hollywood, this is what happens when Mark Wahlberg writes a self-insert fic and changes the names.
2. As you can judge from my request: VINCE/ERIC. Okay, seriously. These two. They are so MFEO that HBO ships them. So I would love where all the subtext (so much subtext, thick like a fog!) comes to a head and we get them falling for each other.


Requested Fandom #2: Coffee Prince, Eun Chan/Han Gyeol
Okay, I would be over the moon if you wrote Eun Chan/Han Gyeol with genderswapped Eun Chan, but I understand that's not everyone's cuppa, so playing them straight (no pun intended) would be fine with me too.

Okay, one of the things that I love love love about this series is the pseudo-canon slash. My dream fic would involve the pseudo-slash become straight up slash with a male!Eun Chan. HOWEVER, I realize that genderswap is one of those things that you either love with every fiber of your being or loathe with the fire of a thousand suns, so by all means, you don't have to go for the genderswap/slash. Other possible plot bunny, if you'd like: Han Gyeol being amazed by (and later encouraging) Eun Chan to be less tomboyish and more girly.


Requested Fandom #3: Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Kohei "Bussan"/Futoshi "Bambi"
I keep trying for these two, on the off chance there is someone else in the world who has seen this drama writing. I'll take ANYTHING at this point.

And I mean it. I haven't requested these two since my first Yuletide, because I had given up on them for the most part, but this year I'm trying again. I'm even repeating what I had said that year: I meant when I said fic for this fandom is few and far between. But I'll get specific just for you. AU, please please! Particularly something where <spoiler>Bussan isn't dead, maybe not even sick</spoiler>, cause if you try to write canon, well you're pretty limited to the canon timeline, and that's no fun. Including baseball is almost required, because of the canon.


Requested Fandom #4: Sunao ni Narenakute, Keisuke "Nakaji"/Kaoru "Linda"
Two words: Alternate ending. These two both got SCREWED in canon (Linda especially), and I need fix-it fic for my own sake.

Let's face it: The ending to this series sucked, and needs to be ignored and rewritten. Nakaji got no redemption as a character, and Linda? Well... he got the worst ending ever. You don't even have to have them end up together (though doing so would be a huge bonus), but just something where Nakaji isn't a total pretentious douchebag and Linda gets treated as somewhat human would be awesome and I would love you for it.

Requested Fandom #1: w-inds., Keita/Ryohei
I love these two so much! Anything you want to write is awesome!

Okay, so these two are under loved, both in general and in w-inds. fandom (which, while pretty much dead in the fanfic respect, was mostly RyoRyu back in the day). Not only do they have the "being bandmates" thing, they have the soccer thing they both love (and if you want to make an AU where they're soccer players, that'd be cool too! My request for them two years ago was for a soccer AU).


Requested Fandom #2: Ben 10, Ben/Kevin
Trying this one again: Timeskip? Ben's 21st birthday? Kevin tries to take advantage of Ben and can't?

This is the exact same request I made last year, but I really wanna see it! I think drunk!Ben would be totally awesome (and allows for them to be aged to adults). I chose 21 because I assume the show takes place in the United States (if you find information that says otherwise, go ahead and change the ages.) I can see Kevin totally trying to use the situation to his advantage, and failing because the "good guy" in him takes over. Hangover nursing optional but would be loved!


Requested Fandom #3: Scott Pilgrim (comic!verse), Scott/Wallace
Wallace comes to terms with a lot of things, one of them being Scott Pilgrim.

I am one of those who screams, "THEY SHARE A BED!!! HELLO!!!" *cough* Anyway, I can see all of that coming to a head, and Wallace attempting to sleep with Scott. You can make this one sided and have Scott reject it, or you can go ahead and write them hooking up.


Requested Fandom #4: Kaleido Star, Sora/Layla
We're dealing with two very flexible women here. Take that as you will.

I know how I'd take that, but... *cough* This could be anything. A training session, a who's the most flexible contest, femslash, pre-femslash, gen. I don't care.

Some of these are hilarious (also, some of these are not current fandoms as well as not all of my fandoms are represented due to lack of entry):

Scott Pilgrim: A guy from Toronto falls in love with a girl from New York and decides to prove his love for her by systematically killing everyone else who ever loved her. It's a comedy.

Entourage: A hot actor, his Heterosexual Life Partner, his washed out brother, and their chubby firend, along with the actor's snarky agent and the agent's flamboyantly gay secretary have misadventures in Hollywood.

Reaper: A directionless twentysomething takes on a second job to pay off a debt his parents incurred. His friends help.

Kaleido Star: Spunky Japanese acrobat gets put through hell in order to make it big with American knockoff of Cirque du Soleil.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn: A baby trains a kid to be a Mafia boss while repeatedly shooting him in the head.

Paradise Kiss: Stiff and dull student is abducted by tecnicolor-haired aspiring fashion designers. Flamboyant jerkass dandy makes her his muse. The author loves Vivienne Westwood.

Ben 10: A boy with a tricked-out wristwatch, a girl who frequently spouts gibberish, and a retired Man In Black — They Fight Crime. And aliens.

Ben 10 Alien Force: Three teenagers hunt aliens in a world crawling with Face Full Of Alien Wing Wong.

Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Boy gets new watch to fight The Collector while taking crap from a Strawman Political.

The Fairly Oddparents: A hyperactive bucktoothed kid in a pink hat acquires a pair of shape-shifting magical goldfish who defend him from the local nasty babysitter, school bully, and Sadist Teacher, while frequently giving him lessons in Be Careful What You Wish For.

Animal Crossing: You become the indentured servant of a raccoon. Your neighbors randomly hand out pianos, computers, and beds as rewards for completing minor chores. Alternatively: You move into a town inhabited by talking animals who give you big screen TVs and works of art for asking another animal to return a mundane item they borrowed.

Harvest Moon: You take over the old family farm, hang with the locals, and get married. That's about it. Or: A young man takes over an old farm and all the responsibilities associated with it.

The Sims: A group of people are at the complete, utter mercy of a whimsical and cruel god who alternates between deleting their toilets and trapping them inside the very walls of their own homes. Or: You are god and are given complete control over people who are unable to exit a pool if the ladder should mystertiously vanish. Or: Humanoids who speak gibberish and can't feed themselves without your help or exit the pool without a ladder constantly die, complain, neglect their children, catch things on fire and stick potato chip bags in the microwave.

The Sims 2: The same group of people's descendants are placed into the hands of the same god, who now can bring fates worse than the plagues of egypt upon them. Death itself occasionally ignores their corpse and watches their telly.

The Sims 3: An indescriptible force of darkness has forced itself onto the world, making the little people capable of exiting the pool without a ladder. This same force makes killing them slightly less desirable for the god.

Is it really that time again? Man, how time flies! I am super excited to be doing this a second time, and hope my requests don't scare you off!

Scott Pilgrim

Two words: WALLACE WELLS. He is by far my breakout favorite character. He is snarky, badass, and doesn't take shit from anyone. Bonus points if he is gaying things up with Scott (they share a bed, for Pete's sake!), but if Wallace is just being his snarky, badass self that's cool too.

I also like Kim. ... I have a thing for the snarky characters in this fandom, don't I? o_O

Wildcard Fandoms:

Ben 10

Bevin! I love me the Bevin. I don't like little!Ben/little!Kevin so much, but OTOH I love Ben 10,000 and Kevin 11,000. I'm also not 100% a smut kind of girl. I love it, sure. But cuddles and domesticity are awesome too!

Harvest Moon

My absolute favorite characters are Popuri, Gray (both from HM64/BtN/FoMT/MFoMT) and Carl (from Magical Melody), but I also love Nina (original flavor HM) and Mary (either the original, or the 64/BtN/FoMT/MFoMT versions)

Kaleido Star

I love Sora and Ken (and Sora/Ken), as well as Layla, Mia, Rosetta and Anna (basically, anyone from season 1 except the antagonists).
